SENIOR REVIEW 2010 - 2011 SEASON
Posted 15th May 2011 by Carl DurhamHi All
What a day! Both leagues decided on the last game of the last day, it doesnt come any closer. Excelent season.Congratulations to Llantwit Lions and Cardiff A.
GORSEINON
What a terrible time after crashing thier mini bus, on their way to their first league games. This team is by far the most improved as the season has progressed. They remind me of Swansea Uni 3 years ago. They will get better and better season by season. Hope you have enjoyed your season and hope to see you all next year.
SWANSEA UNI
The most competitive season to date, winninga fair few games. A special mention must go to Dan Morris and Jon Griffiths. Hope to see you all next year.
PONTYPOOL
Didnt quite reach the dizzy hieghts of winning the league last year. Short on numbers at times but have really pulled together after losing your starting netminder. Well done Allan Gordon for stepping back in and the ever present Luke Ellward. See you next year.
CARDIFF B
This very young team where well guided by Simon Taylor. They have suprised most of the teams along the way with their slick passing. A special mention must go to Harri Taylor andPhil Jarman who started the season with the A,s but made the right descion to play in the Bs, having a standout season. Also rookie goalie TURBOTim Francis who seems to have picked up so many quirks and superstitions as the season has gone on. See you next year.
CWMBRAN
In my summary last season i said the team needed more players, you have done this and are much improved on last year. Missing the league title by 1 point. A great bunch of guys who i am sure will do well at the B league Nationals. Wishing you all the best hope to see you all next year.
LLANTWIT LIONS
What can i say, well organised worthy champions. Looked a bit edgy on times today but your class got you through. I am sure you will do well at the Nationals, go and do the region proud. Special mention to Andrew Padden , Jamie Pennie and Rhys Evans. Hope to see you next year.
MY B LEAGUE DREAM TEAM, NO THROPHYS JUST MY OPINION
PHIL JARMAN (CARDIFF)
HARRI TAYLOR (CARDIFF)
JAMIE PENNIE (LLANTWIT)
ANTHONY GALE (CWMBRAN)
RHYS EVANS NM (LLANTWIT)
CAERPHILLY
Struggled with numbers all season. Special mentions to the ever present Mikey Clubb and Ryan Banwellcongratulations on getting into Super League. Also the constant pain Craig Thomas aka Chinkeye this guy really loves to hate me. Hope you all come back next season.
CARDIGAN
Didnt do quite as well as last season this is the only team to have taken points off both Gowerton and Cardiff A. Hope you recruit more players in the off season. Special mention to Dylan JonesSL Coach Owen Jones and CharlieHowell for playing Super League. Heres to hoping you come back stronger next season.
LLANISHEN
Started the season so strong, had Cardiffs number beating them twice. Followed the same patternof last year , strong start but a weak finish. If you keep a full team for a full season you are a match for anybody. Congratulations to Tim and Jason Mordecai for playing Super League. Also thanks to coach Mike Taylor. One person who deserves a mention Jon Mccarthy this is a player who will do whatever it takes for the team to win, whether it be playing forward or defence as i over heard while reffing a game he shouted to the player take my shift your having a great game. Total Class in my eyes. See you next year.
GOWERTON
Narrowly missed out on the league today. They have been well turned out all season and played some fantastis hockey, plenty of class players in this team. On the downside they are the only team in the league who moan at the reffs as much as Cardiff A. Maybe its because these two teams are so competitive. Special mention to Aaron Sanderson , this lad is still an u16s can he get much better? Made Super League and GB. Top marks Aaron. Also Cameron Buckley, Rob Horsfall and Jim Price for playing Super League. See you next year.
CARDIFF A
Well done for retaining your League Title. To many ups and downs this season to mention. Two well balanced lines if one isnt firing the other is, they totaly compliment each other. They play slick fast moving energetic hockey which the teams in this region sometimes struggle to cope with. Special mentions to Eric Ursell who motivates and gets the best out of his players. To Mark Jarman who takes a lot of stick off me , you have once again been outstanding. Congratulations to David Christian, Matt Durham and Antione Rage for playing Super League. There are to many players in this team to praise, however special mention to our french import Antion " frenchie" Rage it is very rarely you will get the chance to see a player with this much class for a full season. Once again well done and Congratulations.
ONLY 1 LINE FOR DREAM TEAM THIS YEAR, NO THROPHYS JUST MY OPINION AND IN CARLS WORLD ITS THE ONLY 1 THAT MATTERS
JASON MORDECAI (LLANISHEN)
CAMERON BUCKLEY (GOWERTON)
JAKE WRATHER (GOWERTON)
ANTIONE RAGE (CARDIFF A)
MARK JARMAN NM (CARDIFF A)
ALSO A FEW MORE TO MENTION
MOST IMPROVED TIM FRANCIS
BEST NEWCOMER LAURA MERRICK
BEST ENTERTIANER ADAM WILIAMS( YOU KNOW THE 1 WITH RED SHORTS THAT DOESN'T STOP TALKING)
LEAGUE MVP ANTIONE RAGE
Wishing you all a great summer hope yopu are all back next year. Any enquiries please send to me and i will pass them on to who ever takes over my position. Thank you for 3 great years of senior hockey.

U10&U12 Skirmish - Sunday, 27 March 2011
Posted 24th March 2011 by Tim Francis The league has some free hall time on Sunday as there are no longer going to be any Under 21 games and would like to put on a Skirmish for all U10s & U12s (all players arrive and are assigned to a team on the day).
There will be plenty of games & also shoot out competitions, this will be very similar to the Christmas cup that we held during December 2010.
Please can you pass this on to all of your players and let myself know of interest ASAP (I will also create an event on Facebook to help spread the word and indicate interest).
The definite start & finish time is to be finalised and shall inform you as soon as the league games have been finalised
TIED LEAGUE POSITIONS
Posted 13th March 2011 by Graham CollinsAs new rules apply this season to teams that finish on equal points in the league tables. I have clarified the position regarding how to apply the rules with the the advice of BIPHA.
THE FOLLOWING POINT SHOULD BE OBSERVED
Rule (c)The head to head match that will decide the finishing position will be the victor of the last head to head match that the two teams played.
FROM THE RULE BOOK
For National and league competitions, points shall be awarded as follows:
Two (2) points to the game winner
One (1) point for a tie game
Zero (0) points to the loser
Minus (-2) points for a forfeit
(a) In compiling the results of pool play, games within the pool that finish tied, shall remain tied and points for each game awarded as follows:
(b) The placement of teams within each pool shall be according to the most number of points accumulated in round-robin play. If after addition of points, two or more teams are determined to possess an equal amount of points during pool play, the team's position is determined as follows:
(c) The victor of the head-to-head competition in the round robin shall be awarded the higher placement position.
(d) If a tie still results, the team with the lowest total number of goals-allowed for the entire play-off round shall be used to determine position for the tied teams.
(e) If a tie remains, the lowest total of goals-allowed in common wins among the tied teams, during all games in the group competition, will determine the group positions.
(f) If a tie still results, the highest total of goals scored in common losses among the tied teams will determine their positions.
(g) If teams are tied after applying the above criteria, a shoot-out will take place as defined in Rule 73f
