PONTYPOOL SKATER HOCKEY CLUB AWARDED REGISTERED ACTIVITY CENTRE STATUS WITHIN THE CHILDRENS UNIVERSITY OF WALES
The Children's University in Wales awards credits to young people from 5 to 19 who attend activities outside normal school hours.
Working closely with parents, schools and communities, the Children's University aims to provide a broad framework within which each student can reach their maximum potential in whatever areas of learning they desire.
Awards are based on the amount of time young people spend within 'CU' activities and their age.
Whenever students attend activity modules that have a credit rating, registers are taken recording attendance.
At the end of the modules the accumulated credits are banked. A bank statement is issued each term to keep students, their families and schools up to date with the progress being made. If students move schools their credits are transferable.
An awards ceremony will be held each year at University of Wales Newport to present the major certificated awards.
