The Welsh Red Dragon's deservedly won their pool dropping only one point in their 2-2 draw with Cambridge.
Unfortunately their form deserted them in the knock out stages losing two vital games and finishing in 6th position.
Their best performance a 4-0 thrashing of Derby Jets.

Match Reports
Cambridge 2 Red Dragon's 2
Red Dragon's started slowly and after sustained pressure Cambridge scored the first goal after two minutes. Brian Griffiths changed the lines well keeping the pressure on Cambridge, with their net minder saving well from Lewis Smith and Alex Trottman, Matthew Birches long distance effort flashed past the right hand post. A melee in the Cambridge goal area ended when Jonathan Hiles neatly backhanded the puck beyond the bemused goalie to score the Dragon's equaliser. The Red Dragon's attacked the Cambridge goal from the face off with aggressive play from Jason Mordecai and Matthew Birch leading to Alex Trottman scoring a well taken 2nd goal. The game should have been won but with two minutes left Cambridge scored an equaliser.

Game Two
Derby Jets 0 Red Dragon's 1
Red Dragon's started well with Alex and Daniel Symmond's weaving patterns in the Derby goal area but the goals wouldn't come. After several line changes the goal chances were still not being taken. The Howardian trio showed up well with Josh Davies a pillar of strength in defence with Lewis Smith and Jonathan Hiles passing well. Mid way through the game Daniel Symmond's appeared to give the Dragon's the lead but the referee disallowed the goal. After ten one sided minutes Joseph Heard gave the dragons the much-deserved goal they need to put them in front up a lead they failed to add to but never looked like loosing. Marc Collins was rarely troubled in the Dragon's net.

Game 3
Biscuit Heads 1 Red Dragon's 2
Another fine performance from the Welsh lads again the score line does not reflect their hard work. Failing to convert their chances once again. The Dragon's went in front half way through the game when Jonathan Hiles broke up a rare Biscuits attack racing into the goal area before deceiving the goalie with a backhanded shot. More shots followed with Jason Mordecai hitting the post with the goalie beaten. Alex Trottman again getting his name on the score sheet with a well taken angled goal shot. Matthew Birch became the first Dragon to test the bench in the sin bin. Receiving two minutes for cross checking. With the defence playing well Marc Collins was rarely tested and it was a surprise when the Biscuits scored with only 12.6 seconds left on the clock the last twelve seconds were agonising but the Dragon's held out.

Game 4
Cullercoats 2 Dragon's 1
Dragon's lost their first game of the tournament to a very good Cullercoats team the Dragon's started well but lost a goal after the first change over although the Dragon's tried hard and were constantly under pressure Marc Collins making several fine saves. The Dragon's found it hard to break out of defence and chances of scoring were few and far between. Alex Trottman bringing a good save out of the Cullercoats keeper. It came as no surprise when Cullercoats scored again. Jason Mordecai cut the deficit with 60 seconds left on the clock and with the clock ticking down the Dragon's failed to convert two late chances. The Cullercoats were worthy victors.

Game 5
Jets 0 Dragons 4
A good performance from the Dragon players. All the lines playing well the dragons were on the attack from first face off and never allowed the Jets into the game. The Howardian line started and were rewarded with a fine strike from Jonathan Hiles after a breakaway from his own goal line. Good play from Lewis Smith and Josh Davies failed to add to the score. The heads of the Valley's boys gave a good account of themselves but also failed to score Jason Mordecai and Matthew Birch combined well to bring out a good save from the Jets goalie. The second goal eventually came when the goalie spilled the puck into the path of Lewis Smith who neatly slotted it home. 2 -0 to the Dragon's. Matthew Birch added the third goal from outside the goal area at last the Dragon's upped the pace a fine passing movement between Jonathan Hiles and Joshua Davies led to a second goal from Lewis Smith right on the final buzzer.

Game 6
Ylash 2 Dragons 1
A goal in the last minute cost the Dragon's 5th place! The Dragons played well for most of the game taking the lead through Josh Davies from a Lewis Smith pass, but again the urgency was missing. Neat play from the Symmonds twins nearly resulted in a second goal but Ylash wouldn't give up and gradually gained the upper hand and scored the deserved equaliser. The Dragons broke well from defence but the goal wouldn't come. With a minute to go ylash scored the decisive goal with the last touch coming off a welsh stick. The Howardian trio tried in vain to rescue the game with Jonathan Hiles shot just going wide in the final second.
